Raising Money Through Blogging
This past week, our great state was hit yet again with a deadly
tornado outbreak. In a continuing effort to help raise money for those
struck by this devastating event, I ran across something unusual, that I
thought I would pass along.
There is a group that has started the Alabama Disaster Relief Blogging Program. Their mission is to raise awareness through internet blogging, and therefore raising money for the victims of these storms. A noble idea whose time has come. I wanted to do my part.
The National Weather Service issued this statement about the storms of January 23rd, 2012.
"Several damage surveys were completed today in the wake of a tornado outbreak in Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama last night. Most of the damage surveyed so far has been rated EF-2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, indicating considerable damage with wind speeds reaching between 111 and 135 mph. However, the tornado that passed through Clay, Alabama, which is just north of Birmingham has been rated an EF-3. This tornado produced significant damage and was capable of wind speeds between 136 and 165 mph. National Weather Service officials will continue to conduct damage surveys throughout the affected region tomorrow. This wintertime outbreak shows it is important to be prepared for tornado safety at all times of the year".
The families effected by these storms have had their lives changed forever. Some of them lost loved ones, many lost their homes, or parts of their homes. Some even lost everything they owned.
Imagine coming home from work, to find the neighborhood you live in completely destroyed. It's difficult to really imagine, but if you have the time, you can go volunteer, and see for yourself, what effects these storms have on peoples lives.
Having lived in a small town that was devastated by a powerful tornado, I thought it important to get the word out as quickly as possible. You see, the town in which I live is Enterprise, Alabama. Just a few short years ago, we lost eight kids, and one elderly citizen when two tornadoes joined together, and slammed into our local high school. You can imagine the panic, then the shock, and ultimately, the realization that our children had lost their lives.
There were to be stories relayed in the next few days of heroism. In one case, a young man threw his body over a his fellow student, a young lady to protect her. She lived. He did not.
The pain and suffering that comes with these disasters, can only be helped by loving kindness, and volunteers. Enterprise seen many, in it's time of need, let's do our part today, to help those in North Alabama, who need us now, more than ever.
Thank You.

Thoughts and Prayers
While yesterday was full of excitement, and wonderment for this college football fan, the euphoria I was experiencing was soon to be extinguished.
Back to reality, and tragic news.
An Auburn football player, and his girlfriend were in an automobile accident yesterday, that left us with heavy hearts.
Drew Cole, a Senior Defensive Back, and Elizabeth Lauren Ainsworth were involved in a single car accident.
This is just part of the report from OANow..
"The Alabama State Troopers report that Elizabeth Lauren “Libbie” Ainsworth was airlifted to Columbus Regional Medical Center after the accident. Ainsworth is listed as being from Coppell, Texas, in the Auburn University telephone directory".
Libbie was ejected from the car during the accident.
The only updates I am receiving are via twitter, but they are starting to be more optimistic in nature. Libbie is unresponsive, and in an medically induced coma. With GOD's love, she will regain consciousness when the medications are reduced.
Our prayers and best wishes go out to these families.

Christmas Special
I find myself in a predicament, that quite frankly, I never thought I would be caught up with. You see, I just rated this Christmas Day, yesterday, as I write this, as my very best Christmas ever.
As with most married couples, we have to split our time with family for this wonderful holiday between hers, and mine.
After thirty four years, the routine remains the same. Christmas eve day is spent with my family, and Christmas Day is spent with her side of the family. Don't get me wrong in reading this, I consider either side as MY family. There is a difference, but only in bloodlines.
Christmas eve was really good, and I was able to spend time with each member of my family that was able to show for the gathering. Hugs, kisses, and laughter galore were there to be soaked in, and everyone did.
The Christmas Day part of this holiday really was something special. A long lost member of our family, that we were not allowed to have any relationship with, joined us via video chat, and the emotions overflowed.
It had been well over 30 years since Granny, or Paw-Paw had seen this young man, their oldest grandchild. He was forcefully removed from their lives, because of a divorce, and they had not seen their Grandson, since he was 4 years old.
I can not help but rank this Christmas as my most special of all, thanks to GOD.

The simplicity of it all...
The editor function will not allow me to change those numbers, they actually start at verse #33.
- No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
- The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
- Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
- If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.
If we apply this to our lives today, we see that the simple actions we take will show the world our true beliefs. We know that the actual light from the candle is the wick burning with a flame, that shows it's self as a light.
What a tremendous analogy this is for use to use in every aspect of our lives. You see, the wick is the "core" of the candle. Much like we use the word "core" as the center, or foundation of our existence. If our "core" is then matched with a burning desire to be one with Jesus, we will be a light unto the world around us.
Jesus said that "no man who lighteth a candle, hides it under a bushel". In other words, don't keep your faith in God a secret. Let it shine!
GOD BLESS!
