Tough times, tough people

OK my prayer friends,

I have stayed off of facebook and twitter lately. It is intentional and it has nothing to do with Auburn. Certain situations at my job have made a mess on facebook lately, and our boss asked us not to comment on it at all. Seeing things posted that are completely untrue have frustrated me, so I have just stayed offline.  So, if you messaged me and I didn't answer, the reason was probably I didn't get it.

I know things are tough. However, God called us to support one another, so I am pressing on. I don't know if you all were able to get through all of the players in your prayer challenge. Although I was able to pray for all of them, I didn't put my full heart into it. I will admit it.

My weekly assignments his week are:

Sam 1-20
Mike 21-40
Christy 41-60
KB 61-80
Jonathan 80+ and coaches

I can't put my finger on what is going wrong, and its clearly not my job. I am disappointed in the season, but I am going to support my Tigers, no matter what.  Doesn't mean I won't ever be critical, but this prayer blog certainly isn't the place for being critical.  At any rate, the players really need our prayers. There are certain players I feel need extra prayers and you probably do too. If you want to pray for players outside your 'assignment' that is certainly ok.

I would love to hear any stories you might have of good things that have happened to guys you have prayed for.

Galatians 6:9

New International Version (NIV)
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Hope yall have a great day. I am not trying to be evasive in my 'work situation', but I just can't get into it anywhere where things might be left in print. Pray for my school, if yall don't mind.

Love to you all,
Christy

Challenge

It's not always easy to be a fan of a team. There are some times that can be tough. I am not going to write about sticking with your team or anything like that. I just wanted to say this...

If you are a part of this prayer group and you are committed to it, my challenge to you this week is to pray for each player and coach. I did it the first week before I got everything set up. It takes a while...but it's do-able. I took a day and prayed for a few kids each day. I don't know what all is going on their lives and neither do you. I just know that they need some prayers for both on the field and off the field.

If any of you know me well at all, you know that I teach high school. Our team hasn't won a game this season. Friday was senior recognition. I had to help one student write what he wanted said for his parents recognition: 'Son of Pam and the late Theodore ________' being escorted tonight by his brother ____________.  The reason he is escorted by his brother? His mom is in rehab. Another kid...I helped him because he wanted to recognize his grandparents as  his parents and wanted to know if that was ok. I baked them cookies and made a goody bag for Friday. I told them that it's easy to stick with the team when you win. It takes a man to stay on the team when you are not. This is a team who played in the state championship 5 yrs ago. They were used to winning easily. Through a series of very devastating events, the boys aren't at the same place they were. It doesn't matter if there is a W or an L by the schedule on my closet.  I am going to do my best each day to help them become better people and help them prepare for life after school..

There are lots of things the kiddos face off the field. We don't know what goes on really. I've never been one to issue a challenge. Actually, when things get tough, my MO is to sit back and keep my mouth shut.

So can you do it? Pray for each kid and player this week? You don't have to pray for football skills. Pray for the things God leads you to pray for with them. I, personally, started looking at their photo on the website while I pray for them.

1 Thessalonians 5:10-12

New International Version (NIV)
10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Let me know how its going.

Perspective

Well, not a good week for us Tigers...even though I think it's always great to be an Auburn Tiger.  I just want to stress that there is always a bigger picture. Remember that if we are feeling upset, its probably nothing compared to what the players are feeling (despite what you think).

They have to get up tomorrow and go to church and practice- then go to class Monday.

Just a reminder there is a reason to pray for the guys; they are going to need it this week. Keep their needs in your hearts.

Most of yall know I teach high school. Our school team is winless on the season. We are 4 yrs out from playing for the state championship. A lot of things have happened since then, but my kiddos- they keep trying. I know its hard for them to come into school Monday morning. It's a big school in a small town- so football is the only game in town. People in the stands yell at them like they  are pro players instead of 15, 16 and 17 yr olds. It hurts my heart.

Lift your players up. Remember they are people. They sure have had a lot of things happen lately. Just keep praying for them. If you didn't get the message on twitter, here are the assignments this week:
KB- 41-60
Jonathan- 61-80
Mike 1-20
Sam 80 and above and the coaches
Me: 21-40

What are you praying for?

I just wanted to check in with my prayer partners. I liked this keeping them for two weeks thing. Let me know what yall thought. Last week, I spent time each night praying for players individually. I would do 5 or 6 a night. Then this week, I have prayed for something then prayed each ones names while I clicked on their picture.

Last night, I prayed for spiritual needs. Tonight, I prayed for anything they might be dealing with personally, even if we aren't aware of it.

I am telling you. I was convicted while praying for them looking at their pictures. It makes it a lot more difficult to be judgmental of them if you pray for them while looking at a picture.

Let me know what the rest of yall are doing or thinking. Even if you can't log in to the site, leave it in the comment section.
